Hello crafters! It's time for a new sketch challenge over at Sketches in Thyme.  For September's sketch I used a photo that my sister took using Snapchat.  I'm not usually a huge fan of social media, but I sure enjoyed the fun effects she made using the app in this picture.  I used lots of beautiful gold accents to go along with the photo.

Here is the beautiful, original sketch from Sketches in Thyme.

If you love to scrapbook, please join us!  Upload your page to our website and you could win a Halloween goodie bag.

Have a wonderful day!

Sing me a song of the sea

It's time for another great sketch challenge over at Sketches in Thyme!  Did you know they have new sketches every week?  This month, if you play along, you'll have a chance to win this fabulous set of stamps from Close to My Heart.

Here is this week's sketch made by Shawn Lahr:

For my take on her sketch, I used photos from our trip last month to St. Barts.  This was the gorgeous view from our villa.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you will play along with us!

Greetings From Orlando Florida

It's time for another awesome sketch challenge from Sketches In Thyme!  I used this month's sketch to make a layout of a trip we took to Orlando with friends.  Here are all the kids hamming it up by the  lazy river.  They were having so much fun!

I did faux stitching around the white clouds and inked up my paper and embellishments in turquoise to add a little more color to the background.  It's that camera embellishment adorable?  It's huge!

Here is the original sketch.  Give it a try and enter it to win a gift certificate to the The Scraproom!  I love The Scraproom and get two of their monthly kits.

Hope you are having a great week!

Aloha Summer

Hello crafters,

This summer is just flying by!  I can't believe it's already July.  It's been so beautiful here and we are definitely taking of advantage of the nice weather.  Today I have a layout featuring my daughter last summer, enjoying the waves in Malibu.  We love spending time there with friends and family.

This collection is Bobunny's Make a Splash collection.  I just love the cut little penguins in it.  The page came together very quickly.

Have a great week!

Spring is in the Air

Good morning, friends.  Today I have a beautiful sketch from Sketches in Thyme to share with you.

I used the sketch to scrap a picture of my lovely daughter.  I just love her smile in this picture.  This was taken right after she got her braces on.  She was so happy to get them on.  I think it made her feel like a big kid.

Make sure to try the Sketches In Thyme sketch challenges this month.  You could win a Just Imagine Crafts Kreaxions Circle Cutter and surprise bonus gift.

Have a great day!

Hello Friends

This rainbow of a scrapbook page was inspired by Scrapbook & Cards Magazine.  I absolutely love the colors and it was a great way to use up leftover washi tape and ribbon.  I also added a few flowers and bling to it.

I love the memory behind the picture.  The day was the first day of school, last September.  My friends and I met for coffee immediately after dropping off our kids to their various schools.  I am so glad I have this picture to scrapbook, as I will mostly likely not be able to attend this year, due to working.  But there are always other events and get togethers, so it's all good.  It's ironic that I finally scrapped the picture and posted it with only three days left in the school year.

Remember This

Hello crafters,

Today I have a quick and easy layout I created of my husband and daughter.  The pictures are of when my husband came back from a business trip.  Even though he had only been gone a few days, you can see how happy our daughter was to see him.  It was such a sweet moment.

Because the paper I used for the page was very busy, I kept my embellishments at a minimum and let the photos do the talking.  I layered a few balloons in the left corner using foam adhesive tape.  I also tuck two small doilies behind the photos.

Thanks for stopping by today.

So Loved

Good morning, crafters.  Today I have a card kit to share with you.  It's called 'So Loved Valentine Card Kit' by Photoplay.

This was such a fun and easy kit to put together, and there were even some leftover paper and stickers  once it was done.  These would be great for valentines day, but I plan to use them throughout the year.

Hope you are having a great day.

Hello Love

Good morning, scrapbookers!  It's time for another fabulous sketch challenge at Sketches in Thyme.  I used this week's sketch to scrap a couple of pictures of my darling husband.

I love how the red washi tape is transparent and shows the black hearts of the background paper.  The picture of him on a balcony was at the Beverly Hilton, a gorgeous and famous hotel in Beverly Hills.  We were lucky enough to stay there one night, while my dad watched the kids.

Here is the sketch for this challenge created by Brenda Ragsdale.  I just loved it.

If you enter this layout challenge, you can win a $30 gift card to Creative Embellishments. Link up your projects here.

Have a fabulous day!

School Fun

I can't believe another year of school is coming to a close.  I think it's bittersweet, but the kids are so excited for summer to start; we always have so much fun.  Today's layout is of my daughter's first day of school last September.

My daughter (on the left) was so excited to have one of her bffs in her class.  What a smile!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy your day!

Sparkle and Shine

Happy Monday, crafting friends!  Today I am sharing a couple of cards that I created for the Sparkle and Shine class going on at Online Card Classes.  This class is all about glitter, sparkle, and shine.  So needless to say, my house is covered in glitter (much to the dismay of my teenage son).

These first two birthday cards were created with heat embossing.  The flame of the candles and words were embossed with a gold glitter embossing powder.  The body of the candles were heat embossed five times with regular embossing powder.  This created a smooth, thick, enamel feel to them.

The sparkle created on my next card was created with Bo Bonny Glimmer Paste and a stencil.  The Glimmer Paste is great because it dries very, very quickly and is nice and thick.

Hope these cards inspired you to create a little sparkle and shine in your projects.

Have a lovely day!

Thinking of You card set

Good morning, crafters.  Today I have a set of thinking of you cards to share with you.  These cards are another take on the cards I created last month.  I liked how they turned out so much that I thought I'd make a few more with different papers and sentiment.  You can see the original set here.

Thinking of you cards are great for encouragement cards, birthday cards, everyday cards, or even Mother's Day cards.  And if you are going to make one, you might as well make three. Right?

Have a great day!

It's almost time for National Scrapbook Day!!  Tomorrow's the big day and I'm hoping to get some crafting time in.  There are always lots of fun challenges and websites to visit and I can't wait to participant in some.  In the meantime, here is a very bright layout I created at a Scrap Society Crop.  The theme was electric neon daisy, so it was a very colorful and fun crop.

The best part of the crop was our group (Design Divas) wearing tie dye shirts with light up tutus and flower headbands.  How often can you do that and blend into a crowd?  LOL.  Good times.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a wonderful weekend and Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Get Well Soon

Good morning, crafters.  Today I am sharing some cards for people who are feeling poorly.  When people aren't feeling great, a handmade card can really bring a smile to their face.

For the sentiment on my card, I tore a small strip of vellum, stamped "Get well soon" on it with Staz-On Ink.  This works so well with stamping on glossy surfaces.  Once the ink dried (just take a few seconds) I wrapped the vellum strip around the pretty, floral, background paper and glued it to the back.  Next, I stamped some floral stamps onto small white squares and matted them with turquoise paper. I glued the squares across the top of the cards, as you can see in the picture above. Lastly, I glued down the entire background with stamped images attached to the turquoise card base.

And if you are going to make one card, you might as well make a few more of the same card.  You can always alter the sentiment and type of images for each card, too.

Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday

Good morning, crafters.  Today I have a beautiful sketch from Sketches In Thyme to share with you.

I just love how this sketch has spots for up to four photos on layout.  I tend to only put one or two photos on a page normally, so this was a fun change from my usual style.

This pictures are of the kids having a joint family birthday party at our house.  I love the heart background in this layout, but it is rather busy so I kept the embellishments simple.

To join in on this month's sketch challenges, click here. You could win a paper pack and stamp set.

Have a great day!

So Happy Together

There's nothing better than a road trip...especially in my convertible mustang!  We had the top up on this ride though, as we had a ton of stuff in the back.  We were off to take a road trip to Las Vegas to visit some friends.

I created the page using The Scraproom Monthly Kit.  I've been getting their kits now for the last few months and I just love having four collections with some coordinating embellishments come together every month.  (And no, I don't receive compensation for saying that.  I just like the kit.)  The layout came together in under half an hour.  You can't beat that!

Thanks for stopping by today,

Faith is the Bird...

Good afternoon and happy Friday!  Today's cards are for encouragement.  I just love the wording of the stamp by Crafter's Companion.  It reads, "Faith is the birth that feels the light when the dawn is still dark".
These cards will be perfect to have on hand for when someone needs a little cheering up.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend and get a little crafting time in.

Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Egg Hunt

Today's Easter layout was from a couple of years ago when we visited our friends in Henderson.  We had so much fun participating in their neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt.  The Easter Bunny put in an appearance, too.  I just love this picture with our combined kids in it.  The big kids didn't even seem to mind.

Thanks for stopping by.

For Any Occasion

Hello, crafters. Today I made a card, using bits and pieces of various collections that I had left over from other projects. I try not to hold onto too many left overs, but sometimes I just like the papers so much, I can't bear to throw them away. This trifold card was created for the purpose of using up my scraps, as well as a bit of ribbon and a bling.

Since I didn't have a particular reason for creating the card, I did not stamp a sentiment. That way when I'm pressed for time, I can use it for any occasion.

Hope you are having a great day.

Good Friends

Good morning, friends.  Today I am playing around with some papers that I received from The ScrapRoom.  I just love the soft delicate colors on the hearts.  I added the faux stitching around them for a little contrast.

The tag was created using a clear charm with a vintage photo peeking through, Tim Holtz stamps, a metal charm, lace, and a bit of ribbon.  The vellum quote from Quick Quotes reads, "Good friends make the best time even better".  Indeed!  My friends an I had an amazing time at a Christmas Party last December.  She hosted a marvelous affair complete with yummy food, delicious dessert, music, decorations, and a game of White Elephant.  Good times!  I feel so blessed to have such funny and sweet girlfriends.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Have a fabulous week!

Good morning!  It's been a while since I have signed up for a monthly kit club, but after seeing The ScrapRoom's beautiful (and affordable) mostly scrapbooking kit, I thought I'd try it out.  And, no surprise, I absolutely love it.  And they even have monthly challenges to inspire you.  Here is my take on the The ScrapRoom sketch challenge:

It's just crazy that I already have a 14(!) year old.  I used some of a kit from The ScrapRoom on this layout, as well as some odds and ends I had lying around.  I really enjoy this page because it has four photos on it, rather than the usual one or two I usually do.

Enjoy your day!

I'd go Everywhere with will

Good morning, crafters!  It's my favorite day of the month.  It's my day to post over at Sketches in Thyme!  Here's my take on this week's gorgeous sketch challenge:

We are so blessed to live in Southern California and be able to bike throughout winter.  My daughter loves to bike to our local playgrounds with me.  It's such a nice way to start off a weekend.

The beautiful sketch created by Jenessa Franco  looks like this:

Hope you can join us over at Sketches in Thyme.  Have a great day!

Napa 2015

Good morning, scrapbookers!  Today I am playing around with Fancy Pants' Atwell collection.  I love all the feathers in this collection.  From the paper to the washi tape, it is so beautiful.

I used the Scrap Our Stash Bingo challenge to get my layout started:

On my layout, I used washi tape, a piece of striped paper, and an eagle charm.  My favorite part of the layout though, is all the soft feathers.

Hope you are having a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Me and You

Today's scrapbook page is of our friends' wedding.  It was held at a beach house in Malibu and they exchanged vows with a stunning background.

I enjoyed adding love of beautiful flowers, lace, and a tag I created with Prima products.  The hanging hearts at the top is a wooden embellishment.  I loved how this turned out so much, that I hung it in our kitchen.

Have a fabulous day!

Spring Birthday Card

It's starting to look a lot like spring around here.  The pollen is drifting in the wind and the frogs are singing loudly at night.  With a creek running behind our house, we can even hear the frogs from inside our house.  My daughter likes to open the backdoor and listen to them.

Thinking about spring made me want to create a birthday card with brighter, whimsical colors.

I created my card using a beautiful sketch challenge over at Feeling Sketchy. I flipped it around to suit my card design.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope the weather is warming up in your neck of the woods.

Watercolor Sympathy cards

Good afternoon crafters,

Today I have some sympathy cards to share with you.  It's unfortunate that these cards are necessary, but sometimes they need to be created to let loved one know that they are in your thoughts and that you want to support them with whatever they might need.

Because I don't enjoy making these cards, I always create them in bulk.  I have three pictured here, but I actually created 10 of these.  I used watercolor paper, watercolor paints, and water to create the backgrounds.  The fun part about using watercolors is that the backgrounds always come out slightly different.  Before making the colorful background, I stamped and heat-embossed the flowers with white, opaque embossing powder.  After heating the image, I sprayed the watercolor paper with water and got to painting.

Once the paper dried, I stamped the sentiment, "May you find strength in the love that surrounds you".

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Celebrate 1

Good morning!  Today's layout is of my nephew's first birthday party.  Is there anything better than watching a little one get their very first birthday cake?  His face says it all!

I just love the sparkly gold circles in this background paper. The celebrate sticker along the bottom is also very sparkly, but you can't really tell in this picture.

Thanks for stopping by!

Police Officer On Duty

Warning: adorable police officer alert!

It's time for a sketch challenge!  Today's layout is my take on this week's Sketches in Thyme sketch challenge.

I used an old K & Company police officer collection for my layout.  They included a lot of three-dimensional stickers.  My daughter loved being a police officer for Halloween.  She especially loved arresting her brother!

Are you up for a challenge?  Pop over to Sketches in Thyme and try one of our sketch challenges.  You could win this Dreamin' Big paper pack from Close to My Heart.

Do What Makes you Happy

Hello, crafters!  Today's layout is a picture of my favorite people to scrapbook with - the Design Divas.  Not only do we attend scrapbooking retreats together, but we also host our own crops for each other, complete with food and games.  We have so much fun socializing and scrapbooking together.

I love the soft colors in this layouts.  It's so pretty and girly. The beautiful butterflies along the top is a thick washi tape.  The black sticker on the right reads, "Do what makes you happy".  Scrapbooking with friends definitely makes me happy!

Thanks for popping by!

2nd Annual Camping Trip

Today I have a quick and easy layout.  The pictures are of my annual Moms and Kids' camping trip.  This super fun vacation takes place in Malibu during the summer.  I'm not sure who has more fun, the kids or the moms!  During the day we play at the beach and at night, we gather around the fire and chat all night long.

Last year we had 7 families attend.  This year there are already 10 families signed up!  Is it summer yet???

Date Night

Today's layout is one I absolutely love.  The pictures are of a wonderful evening spent with friends at the Magic Castle, in Los Angeles.  You either have to be a member or know a member to get in, so we were feeling very blessed to be invited to attend by friends of ours.  The magicians were insanely good and it was amazing what they could do with a roomful of people watching. The food was great, too. (I had the bacon wrapped scallops).  You cannot take any pictures inside the Magic Castle, but they have a red carpet out front for a photo op.

The layout came together very quickly.  The title in the center reads, "Date Night".  As you can see, I used lots of my favorite embellishments, flowers.  The black lace doily was a piece of a placemat from a recent scrapbooking crop I attended.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Happy Cake Day

Good morning scrappers!  Today I have a layout of my sweet girl turning nine.  This page was inspired by Lasting Memories Layout Challenges. Their challenge this week is to use arrows or hearts.  I knew exactly which paper to use when I saw their challenge!  My background paper is crazy with arrows!  By the way, this picture does not do it justice.  The arrows are actually gold foil and shiny.  It's so much prettier in person.  The collection called My Story is from My Mind's Eye.

This page was actually a bit of a challenge for me (which is why I have avoided using it up until now).  It's much busier than what I usually use.  BUT I love how it turned out.  I think the key was to only use a few embellishments around the photo, which was the focal point.  The "XO", cupcake, wish, and butterfly are all a pretty gold as well.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Road Trip

Good morning, crafty friends.  Today I'm starting off with my take on the latest scrapbook sketch challenge over at My Creative Sketches.

The picture is of my son and I leaving for a mother/son dude ranch weekend.  The paper and stickers are from Crate Paper.  When we took the picture we were so excited to begin our trip.  We had been talking about it for a few years, so it was nice for the adventure to finally begin.  I also added some metal accents, gear stickers, and and a random acetate card I had in my stash that reads, "Love this day beyond measure".

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

The Dark Side of Disney

Hello, crafty friends!  Today's layout is of a fabulous weekend crop in Henderson that I attended over the weekend.  The crop, hosted by Scrap Society, was themed the Dark Side of Disney and each pod of crafters was assigned a villain.  Our villain was the infamous Maleficent.

Many of the items I used to scrapbook this page were given to us at the crop, including the doilies, Maleficent card, ribbon, and chipboard.  I love that I was able to include so many souvenirs in my pages.

Our group had such a fun time scrapbooking, and playing games all weekend long.  They also included many meals, entertainment, and prizes.  We also dressed up for our crop.  You can see we are all wearing the same t-shirt and horns in the photo above.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, as well.  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh so Lucky to be Loved by You

Good morning, Scrapbookers!  Sketches in Thyme has another beautiful sketch this week, guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing!  Look how pretty it is:

Here is my take on the sketch:

As you can see, I used a beautiful tag I had made at a class a few years back, instead of a picture on the right hand side of the layout.  The large stacking hearts in the lower left were made with my Cricut and the absolutely gorgeous gold foil background paper is from My Minds Eye My Story collection.

The picture is of my daughter coming home from kindergarten on Valentine's day wearing a large heart she had decorated in class.  She is just so precious!  I just love her smile.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you get a chance to join me over at Sketches in Thyme!
