Oh I love you used the term lurkers. I think that's great, although some may not agree. I have been trying to think of a welcome for those passers by who kindly drop in. May have to adopt that word. Fab. Thanks for the smile.

I like your simple style. It something I look at and think I could do that. I am in awe of those who can put 50 embellishments on a card and make it look good but it's a style I rarely achieve. Love your colours and the variation in your projects. I will try and upgrade from silent lurker to commenter. Thanks for sharing and well done on your mega milestone.
Congrats lucky number twelve!  Please email me your full name postal information at lala3237 at verizon dot net.
Thank you again everyone for your support and friendship on this little blog of mine!  Have a wonderful weekend!

So Thankful 2013

Good morning friends.  November is a busy month, but I think it's important for my family to make time and acknowledge how blessed we are.  We have so many blessings in our lives and so much to be thankful for.  So I created a very quick and easy scrapbook album where we could record our thoughts this year and which would serve as a keepsake in the years to come.  The base of the album was done in a class I took from Marion Smith a year and a half ago.  Having pre-made albums hanging around is a great way to make projects quickly and easily.  The album alternates between a sheet of card stock and a smaller pocket created with card stock.

Mini albums like this are a great way to use iPhone photos.  So many photos I snap up with my phone are not awesome, but yet still really encapsulate a sweet family moment.  Putting them in a distressed kind of album is a great way to preserve them.

I created each pair of pages with a couple photos of the person that I really love (red eye and blurriness and all).  Then, in the pocket page, I had the person write down what they are thankful for this year.  For Lara, I wrote it down for her.

Then, I just added a few embellishments to the pages for a little extra visual interest.  Because this album does not contain a lot of pages, I could add some really bulky flowers and chipboard without having to worry about not being able to close it.  But I didn't spend a whole lot of time trying to make the pages picture perfect and fancy because really, it's the journaling and pictures that will make this so precious in the years to come.

Here's the cover of the album.  I just added the "So Thankful" and "2013" to personalize it.

I am entering my So Thankful mini album in the following challenges:

Craft My Life - Anything goes but no cards
Parade Your Crafts - Thankful
Path of Positivity Challenge - Thankfulness
The Paper Girls Challenge - It's time to give thanks

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving (and a wonderful rest of the week for all my international friends)!

Enjoy the Little things GIVEAWAY

Hello all my crafty friends!  Today I reached a huge blogging milestone -  100,000 views!  When I started up this little blog of mine, I thought it would just be a fun lark and I probably wouldn't end up sticking with it.  That was four years ago!  I also didn't think anyone would pay all that much attention to it.  It still amazes me that I get so many visitors to my crafty blog every single day!  It just blows me away.

So I want to say thank you to everyone who has stopped by and visited me here - commenters, lurkers, and followers alike.  I am giving away these three 6x6 Embossalicious Embossing folders.  These embossing folders from Crafter's Companion work with all the big brand named embossing tools.  I use my Grand Caliper with them.

I believe!

All you need to do to win these is just leave a comment on this post letting me know what you like most about my blog or maybe what you look for when you're blog surfing.  I will have one of my kiddos randomly pick a winner on Thanksgiving (November 28th).

I also have a card to share with you today.   I used all kinds of spray inks and watercolors to create the background of the squares and main card.

Once all my paper dried, I used three different stamp sets by Sheena Douglass on my little squares - Silhouette GrassesOriental Silhouette, and Silhouette Garden. I stamped them all in Jet Black StazOn Ink.   For the focal point of my card, I used the quote "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. Robert Brault" from the Stamp-It Australia Friendship Sentiments stamp set.

Thank you so much for letting me share my love of crafting with you and have a great week!

My Happy Place

Good Morning folks.  This month is so busy, and I've been neglecting my scrapbook pages, so I thought I would use the wonderful sketch challenge at Once Upon a Sketch for a little inspiration.  The journaling theme this month was "My Happy Place".   My happy place really isn't a place though.  My happy place is anywhere my family is.

The paper is from My Mind's Eye Spread Your Wings and Fly collection.  I think this collection has the most gorgeous paper. It looks so layered and distressed without any of the work.  Plus, I love the color combination of brown and pink.  The vintage tag on the left was created with Prima paper and embellishments.

Lara is such a little cutie and has been sick this last week with a mean sinus infection.   She was finally well enough to go back to school today.

Hope you are having a wonderful day and not so hectic month ;)

30 Days of Holiday Gifts with Crafter's Companion and Xyron

The design teams for Crafter's Companion and Xyron are teaming up to bring you lots of Holiday inspiration and ideas.  I still have lots of holiday gifts for family and friends to make, so I decided I would create gift baskets that could be filled with various gifts.  Who doesn't love to receive a basket full of goodies?  And if you leave a comment on our blogs and/or Facebook pages, you could win some cool prizes while you are having a look too!  You have until Monday, November 18th, to leave your comments.

To create the gift baskets, I used my Boxer board (seen on top of my Ultimate Crafter's Companion Tool) and followed the easy step-by-step video instructions on The Ultimate Advanced Construction Techniques DVD.  The Luxury Centura Pearl 12x12 paper is perfect for making these baskets as it is very strong and scores well.

I used the Xyron Mega Runner with permanent adhesive to glue together the sides of the baskets.  This easy to handle tool made fast work of the construction.

Once the box portion was assembled, I added the handle to the base.

I used the Xyron High Tack Adhesive Dots while creating my handle. This adhesive very strong and tacky.

I also adhered some green paper to my handle and box to add a little color to it.  I added four brads to both sides of the handle to reinforce it.

Next, I stamped the sentiment "Holly Jolly Days" using Memento Bamboo Leaves Dye Ink and Dee Gruenig Jolly Holly stamp set.  I ran the sentiment through my Xyron 1.5 create-a-sticker machine to add adhesive to the the back of it and added it to the front of the basket.

I stamped out various holly leaves using Memento Memento Tuxedo Black Dye Ink and Sheena Douglass' Holly Stamp set

I colored the leaves with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers CR7, CR9, DG2, and DG4.

After cutting out a handful of leaves, I again used my Xyron 1.5 create-a-sticker machine, as shown below.   This tiny little sticker maker makes glueing small items to project SO EASY!  Once you run them through the machine, you just peel the leaves off and stick them to your projects.

These easy to create gift baskets can also be dressed up with just a little paper and ribbon, as well.

Once you finished decorating your baskets, you can fill them up with whatever you like.  I decided on a coffee theme for one of my baskets, while the other contains lotions and holiday candles.  You could also add baked goods, teacher supplies, or craft supplies.

For more great holiday ideas, be sure to visit the Crafter's Companion and Xyron Facebook pages.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a great day!

Crafter's Companion Holiday Challenge

Crafter's Companion has a new Holiday/Christmas challenge for November. One lucky winner will be chosen at random to win a £30 / $30 voucher from Crafter’s Companion, Ltd.    For my project this month, I had fun creating a Christmas card with nontraditional holiday colors.

The trio of ornaments is from the Stamp-It Australia Linear Baubles.  I colored the ornaments with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers BT1, BT2, BT4, BT5, and BT7.  The sentiment "Lots of love at Christmas" is from the Barkley Festive Fun stamp set.  I inked up the edges with Memento Teal Zeal Dye Ink.  To add some dimension, I used Double-sided Adhesive Foam circles to adhere the sentiment and ornaments to my card.

I hope you'll join us this month and enter the Crafter's Companion Holiday/Christmas challenge.  It's a great way to not only get some of your holiday cards done, but to also have a chance to win some goodies. Simply make a project – a card, a scrapbook page, a box, a bag, a tag, a bookmark, a bit of home decor, an altered journal….anything that has Christmas or winter theme with a Crafter's Companion product.  You can find more info hereThe Design Team will also choose their favorite top 3 creations.  If you are a chosen you will get a blinkie to display proudly on your blog. You will also get a blinkie to display on your blog.

Cherry Blossoms

I seem to be having a love affair with trees this month.  Perhaps because there are so many beautiful shades of color on the ones near me right now.  Living in Southern California, the winter is slow in coming; something I am really grateful for.  This cherry blossom tree is a new stamp I picked up last month from Crafter's Companion.  I would love to see cherry trees in person.

The tree and the wonderful quote are from the stamp set called Sakura.  It is part of Sheena Douglass' new A Little Bit Oriental Collection.  The quote reads, "In The Cherry Blossom's Shade, There Is No Such Thing As A Stranger.  Kobayashi Issa." What a wonderful sentiment for offering words of comfort or support to friend or neighbor.  I inked up my stamp with Memento Rich Cocoa Dye Ink, Desert Sand Dye Ink, and Memento Luxe Rhubarb Stalk Mixed Media Ink.  The Embossing Folder I used for the background is called Cherry Branch.  I also used the Rich Cocoa and Rhubarb Stalk Ink to ink up my embossed images as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Storms Make the Oak Grow Deeper Roots

Good morning friends.  Today I have an encouragement card to share with you.  Isn't the oak tree gorgeous?!   This is a 6x6 inch card so you can see how large the stamp is.  Both the tree and the sentiment are from Sheena Douglass' A Little Bit Sketchy The Majestic Oak.

I just love the saying from George Herbert, "Storms Make The Oak Grow Deeper Roots".  It's a great reminder for anyone who needs it, that adversity can sometimes bring us strength.

To create my card, I inked up my tree with Rich Cocoa, Desert Sand, Bamboo Leaves, and New Sprout Memento Dew Drops Ink pad onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock.  These ink pads are much smaller than the larger Memento ink pads, so it is easy to ink up only small portions of your image.  Additionally, these inks are a little wetter so you have plenty of time to apply several different colors before stamping the image.

I also added a few strips of paper, flowers with gems, and a gold leaf the bottom of the card.  This is my favorite card right now, and I love that it only took me a few minutes to create :)  It's great when everything comes together so easily and quickly!

Thank you for stopping by today.
