5 minute 3-D foil embossed cards

While I love making lots of intricate cards and home decor items, sometimes I just don't have the time.  So when I need to create a card in a hurry, I grab my Crafter's Companion Moorhead Luxury Card Collection.  This card kits has everything you need to make a gorgeous three-dimensional card in no time at all.  It includes gold-foiled die-cut toppers, sentiments, and borders, all which coordinate perfectly with the matching printed and gold-accented card stock.
I was able to create this card using only the Moorhead card kit and adhesive in under five minutes!

I simply punched out the pre-printed die cuts and used Crafter's Companion Double Sided Adhesive Foam Squares to layer the pieces together.  The raised foam creates the fabulous three-dimensional effect.

I cut one of the matching card stock papers to 6 x 8 inches and folded it in half to create a 4 x 6 inch card.  I saved the other half of the card stock which had the same little boy with his puppy for later use.
You can see the gold-embossed border all the bottom of my card.

Then I glued on my layered little boy image, as well as the matching Happy Birthday Sentiment, also included in the Moorhead Luxury card collection.  In just a few minutes I was able to create a wonderful birthday card for a friend!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy crafting!

Flower Fairy All-Occasion card

Good morning crafters.  Today I am sharing with you a card that I made for Crafter's Companion USA blog, using one of my favorite Crafter's Companion collections, Flower Fairies.  The sweet images are fabulous for sending a card to someone to let them know you are thinking about them.  Who doesn't love getting a card when you least expect it?

I started this quick and easy card by stamping the Flower Fairy Heliotrope main image onto a die cut shape.  I colored my fairy with the following Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.
Flowers:  CT1, CT2, CT4
Stem:  CG1, CG2
Skin:  FS2, FS3
Wings:  EB1, EB2
Hair:  IG5, IG6, IG8
Dress:  BT1, BT2, BT4

Once I was done coloring, I applied Platinum Stickles Glitter Glue to her wings.  Platinum Stickles has a beautiful mix of silver and gold glitter.  I also added green rhinestones around the image for a little extra sparkle.

To create a three dimensional effect, I adhered the die cut to the base of the card with Double-Sided Adhesive Foam Squares.  Finally, I added a few flowers in each of the corners of the card.

Have a wonderful week and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Rainbow Butterfly Wreath (stash buster)

Crafter's Companion USA challenge blog has merged with the Crafter's Companion Monthly Challenge blog!  You can now win one of THREE gift certificates to their online store, no mater which country you live in.  November's challenge is to create something using your favorite color combination.  Make sure to include an item from Crafter's Companion UK or USA store to be eligible.   My favorite color combination is a rainbow of colors, so I chose to make a Butterfly Wreath.  This is a great project for using bits and pieces of card stock you may have left over from previous projects.

To begin my project, I pulled out a bunch of papers and started stamping the different butterflies from Sheena Douglass A Little Bit Scenic Flying Colors using my Tuxedo Black Memento Pad.  Over the next couple of days, I cut them all out whenever I was watching TV.

For the wreath base, I wrapped a simple styrofoam wreath with some broad ribbon.  I only used a bit of glue when I started to wind the ribbon around the wreath and at the end when I had covered it completely.

Next, I started layering my butterflies, using the largest size of butterfly on my stamp set.  I used 2-4 large butterflies for each color I had.

Once I had covered my wreath with the large butterflies, I used the same colored medium and small butterflies to fill in any holes or to add more bulk to my wreath.  I also twisted up some of the wings to give them more dimension.

To complete the wreath, I glued on a piece of yellow ribbon to the back of the wreath for hanging.  Because it is made of styrofoam it was not very heavy.   The hanger is actually just a tack with a butterfly glued onto the top of it.

Thanks for checking out my blog.  I hope I've inspired you to think of your favorite colors to craft with and you will join us over at Crafter's Companion Monthly Challenge blog!

I am entering my wreath in the following challenges:

Time to Celebrate

It's always nice to have extra cards on hand for last minute occasions.   One of my favorite stamps to create cards with is the Crafter's Companion Strawberry Kisses Party Girl stamp set.  The celebratory image is perfect for so many different occasions.   Isn't the adorable kitty sitting in a martini glass adorable?

I created this quick and simple card by stamping my image with Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock and colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I also added Stickles to the glass and umbrella.  Nothing says celebrate like glitter!  Finally, I stamped the sentiment "Time to celebrate" from the Swalk Winter Celebrate stamp set.

Do you like to make cards for a rainy day or do you like to make them for specific occasions?

Have a great day!

Holiday cupcake box

Good morning crafters!  Here is a cupcake box that I made for Crafter's Companion last week.  You could also put homemade candies, cookies, or muffins in it, as well.

To create my cupcake box, I used my Crafter's Companion's Boxer Board.  For the base of the box, I started with a 9 1/2 square inch piece of cardstock.

Using the Box Lid side of my Boxer Board, I scored at 3 inches on all four sides of the paper.   I then cut the middle two score lines on one side and then the same middle two lines on the opposite side of the paper.

You can see an example in the photo below.

To construct the box, you will need to use a strong glue, such as Red Liner Tape.  Glue the two side panels together and then fold up and glue the middle panel to them.

For the box top, you will start with a 5 1/2 inch square piece of card stock.  Using the Box Lid side again on your Boxer Board, score each side at 3/4 inch.

Cut a small notch out of each corner which will be folded to inside the lip of the box.  Before gluing the lid together, cut out a circle or shape of your choice in the center of the box lid.

On the inside of the box lid, adhere a piece of 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch acetate.

To decorate my box lid, I colored several holly leaves from Sheena Douglass' Paint Fusion Christmas Holly stamp set with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and cut out the images.

I used the colors EB5, EB8, CR2, CR9, DG2, and DG4.

After I cut out some of the holly leaves, I glued a few of them to the lid of my box.

To complete my cupcake box I added a few pearls around the circular cut out, as well as the sides of the lid.

Have a great day!

Thank you card for a teacher

Good morning crafters!  Today I have a card I made for my son's teacher.  Being a teacher is such an important job and I think it's important to take time to show my appreciation for all her hard work.

I created the beautiful wood look in my card by embossing Premium White Cardstock with Crafter's Companion new Wood Grain Background Embossing Folder.  I used Vintage Photo  and Tea Dye Distress Ink pads to create the warm brown color.

For the main image, I thought Swalk Slugs and Snails would be perfect for an elementary school teacher.  I colored him using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers (IB2, IB3, BT8, IG1, IG6, IG8, IG10, TN5, TN7, TN8, EB1, EB2, CT1, CT3, AND TB2).

To finish my card, I added a small piece of ribbon and stamped "Thank You" on matching cardstock.  The Thank You sentiment is part of the Cute Companions Crafting Companions stamp set.  Inside my card, I added the words, "Thanks for making 4th grade such a blast!".

I hope that I have inspired you to thank a teacher in your life.  I'm sure they would appreciate a handmade card.  Have a fabulous Thursday!
