Just for you card with treat

Good morning crafters!  With so many different holidays coming up, I thought I would share a card you can make with a treat inside.   These are perfect for just about everybody.  Who doesn't love to open up a card and find a goodie inside?

I started my card by cutting out a 6 inch by 12 inch piece of double-sided cardstock.  One side had a flower pattern, while the other was a solid color.  I then made a score line at 3 inches from either side of the card.

Next I cut out three matching mats for the inside of my card; (2) 2 3/4 inch by 5 3/4 inches and (1) 5 3/4 by 5/ 34 inches.

After gluing down the three mats into the inside of my card, I punched two holes on the outer middle edge of the cards, making sure to line up the holes.  Adding eyelets in the holes added some extra durability.

For the center inside of my card,  I colored this cute little pixie from the soon-to-be-released Torreads Flora stamp set with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  This new line of stamps features all kinds of adorable pixie characters!  I choose TN5, TN7, TN8 for her hair, EB1 and EB2 for her skin, CG1 and CG2 for her dress and leaves in her crown, and GB3 for the flowers in her crown.  For a little sparkle, I also added some gold Stickles over all the flowers.

Once I was done, I cut out a couple of mats for my stamped image as well, layering the pieces together.

After gluing down my matted, stamped pixie, I used a tacky glue to adhere a lollipop on the inside left side of my card and some vellum words that I had in my stash on the right hand side.  Here's what the completed inside of the card looks like.

For the front of the card, I stamped "Just for You" (also in the Flora stamp set) on a small tag and matted it.  I then hole-punched the end of the tag and flower, adding an eyelet to attach the flower to the tag.  Lastly, I found a piece of fiber that matched the card, threaded it through the four holes and tag, and tied it in a bow.  This gives the card a little bit of an interactive feature, much like opening a present.

Do you like to add goodies to your cards or projects during the holidays or birthdays?

I am entering Gatefold card in the following challenges:
Simon says stamps challenge - Anything goes
Tuesday Throwdown - Fall colors
Divas by Design challenge - Fairies and Fantasy

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Every Snowflake is Unique tag

Good morning crafters!  Today I made a gift tag using Sheena Douglass' gorgeous A Little Bit Scenic Ornate Snowflakes stamp set from Crafter's Companion.

I started by cutting out my tag on white Premium White Card stock with my Cricut (Christmas Cheer cartridge).  Then I colored it this stunning shade of blue with my Spectrum Noir TB3 alcohol marker.   Coloring large areas like this is quick and easy using the broad chisel nib on the Spectrum Noir markers.

Next I stamped the sentiment, "Every Snowflake is Unique, Just Like You." from the Ornate Snowflakes stamp set with dark blue pigment ink.  I also stamped three different snowflakes on my tag, though there are many others in this stamp set.

Finally, I added three different solid blue ribbons that I had lying around in my stash to the top of the tag.  Now it's all ready to be added to a present or treat bag.

Have you made any tags lately?  We'd love for you to share them with us on Crafter's Companion Facebook page.  If you use stripes or dot in your project, you can enter it in our September challenge over at the Crafter's Companion USA challenge blog.

Loving Christmas

Sheena Douglass' new Christmas collection, A Little Bit Festive is one of my all time favorite holiday collections ever.  Her large, detailed stamps are so beautiful that you really don't need to add much else to your cards.  They are so fabulous all on their own.

My clean and simple card today shows off the main image of Sheena Douglass' Loving Christmas stamp set.  This image measures roughly 3 1/4 x 5 inches.  I colored my stamp with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, so that I could blend the the colors together smoothly and beautifully.

To add a little sparkle, I added a fine line of Golden Rod Stickles Glitter Glue around the heart ornament.

I also layered a pre-printed patterned transparency over my stamp to create a more balanced card.  The small stamped "Merry Christmas" text along the bottom of my card is also part of the Sheena Douglass Loving Christmas stamp set.

Also, don't forget that today is the last day to enter this week's stamp set giveaway on the Crafter's Companion USA challenge blog.  We are giving away this adorable Mistletoe Mwah stamp set.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy Haunting Home Decor Canvas

Good morning!

Have you guys seen the new DCWV Stardust Stacks?  Love these!!!  They are so gorgeous they perfect for created Halloween home decor projects.   My sister LOVES Halloween.  It's her favorite holiday.  She and her husband have a huge party every year, decorating their house to the nines.  So I thought I would make her a 12x12 inch canvas to hang on her walls.  Since her favorite color is purple, I made that the dominant color.  All the paper is from the new Stardust DCWV stacks.  Besides the printed paper stack, they have a matching solid card stock stack that includes glitter and foil paper, as well as regular card stock.  To create the glittery purple canvas, I painted the canvas with purple acrylic paint, and then sprayed it with Gold Spray and Sparkle Glitter Varnish.  It only takes a few minutes to dry which rocks.

The gorgeous witch image is a digital stamp from Hannah Lynn Art, which I colored with alcohol markers.  The great thing about using digital images is that you can make it as small or large as you want it to be.  Here's a close up of her.  I added Stickles to her dress for more sparkle.

I also added a few corrugated bats I had in my stash, as well as some foam ghost stickers that came already glittered in a light purple.   The "Happy Haunting" title was cut from the Cricut cartridge Happy Haunting.

I am entering my canvas in the following challenges:

Seasons Greetings gift card box

Good morning!  Today I have a cute little gift box to share with you that I made for Crafter's Companion. In fact, you may want to read this over at Crafter's Companion blog as they are giving away a 24 pack of their awesome Spectrum Noir alcohol markers today to one of their Facebook friends!!!  That's a seriously cool prize!  (Must be a U.S. resident to win).

Here's what I made for today's post :)

I love giving away gift cards at Christmas time, it's just so easy.  So I decided to add a little pizzazz to them this year by creating fun little boxes to give them in.

To create my box, I used The Boxer board from Crafter's Companion.  I cut out two 5x7 inch pieces of card stock.  Because I didn't need my boxes to be very deep, I scored all four side of the card stock on the second line of my Boxer board.  Then I turned my boxer board around and did the same thing to the second piece of 5 x 7 inch card stock.  By using the other side of the boxer board I had a lid that fit perfectly.  I LOVE that there is no measuring involved in creating the lid.  Then I just cut flaps out of each corner and adhered all the sides together.  They are very quick and easy to make.

To design the top of the lid, I stamped a couple of holly images from Sheena Douglass A Little Bit Festive collection and colored them with my Spectrum Noir red and green pen sets and cut the images out.  I used a Seasons Greetings stamp for the sentiment.  It is also from the A Little Bit Festive collection.  Isn't the lettering beautiful?  These stamps will be available in the Crafter's Companion online store next week.  I also sprayed the die cut with Gold Spray Sparkle Glitter Varnish to add a little sparkle to my project.

To complete the card, I layered the die cuts and holly on a piece of designer paper and adhered it to my lid.  Now it's all ready for a gift card.  I plan on making lots of these mini boxes in the next couple of months.  It really is a great way to personalize a gift certificate or card.

I am entering my little gift box over in these challenges:

Anything Goes challenge blog - Early Christmas

September's Stripes or Dots

Crafter's Companion Challenge blog has a fabulous new challenge for September.  This month's challenge is to create something with stripes or dots.  I thought this was such a inspirational challenge, since I almost never use dots or stripes in my cards.

I decided to create a background of dots by dry embossing my card and then misting it with bright purple Dylusion Ink spray.  I also added random rhinestone "dots" all over the card.

The adorable stuffed kitty is from the Crafter's Companion Strawberry Kisses collection.  The stamp is called Birthday Kitten.  I stamped the sentiment "Party Time" from Popcorn the Bear EZMount Stamp Set Party Time.

I hope you'll join us this month for the dots and stripes challenge.  Crafter's Companion always has the BEST prizes for one random lucky winner.   And now that school is back in session, you will hopefully have a little bit more time to craft.  I know I will be gaining about 2 1/2 hrs a day :)

Have a great day!
