Butterfly Keeper

Hey gals,

So happy to have something to share today.  There hasn't been a whole lotta crafting going on at my house.  The kids are doing better, but still on breathing treatments.  I have also been dealing with a bum knee from a fall and had to get my knee drained.  Fun stuff...  Today though, I got out my glimmer mists and glam, Adironick alcohol inks, and Stickers and got messy.  The layout of the card is a take on the sketch challenge over at Ribbon Carousel challenge.

The stamp I used is a new one to me called Butterfly Keeper from Hannah Lynn.  I just love the fantastical, dreamlike image.  The background paper is from DCWV Once Upon a Time Stack and I added some blue rhinestones to it.  I colored the stamped image with Copic Markers, then added Chandelier Glimmer Glam and Stickles to her hair for a little sparkle.  I also added the blue tiara bling from Heidi Swapp.  Every girl should have a tiara...lol.

I cut out the circle in the background from my Cricut and sprayed it with Glimmer mists.  I then added the Purple felt butterfly and added a few purple rhinestones to it.

The chipboard mannequin is from Kaisercraft and was originally wood colored.  I rubbed the mannequin in Silver, Stream, Sailboat, and Wild Plum Adirondack alcohol Ink to give it some color.  Then I added a beautiful blue and turquoise ribbon around the waist that I got from my bff Stacy and added a few purple rhinestones to the neckline.
The turquoise ribbon along the back of the card, flowers, and metal butterfly charm were all from my stash.

Card with drawers for Mom

Hey everyone,

With Mother's Day coming up,  I thought I'd get a head start making my cards.  I decided to try a really cool new type of card with drawers which I made with my Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool, Boxer board, and Advanced Techniques DVD.  It took me quite a while to make, but it came out perfectly and was totally worth the time spent. I used my new DCWV Coral Couture Stacks to create and decorate my card.  The pattern paper has glitter all over it :)

I added some beautiful Prima flowers and leaves which I added gold glitter to for a little sparkle.  I also added a layer of Recollection rhinestones around the "Home is where the Heart is" sentiment as well. All four sides of the card have a darling little drawer that pulls out.  I lined the drawers with Coral Couture patterned paper and added a ribbon bow to the end to open and close them with.  I used a really strong glue so that they would hold up.

The top portion of the card is an easel card fold.  The stamp is part of Crafter's Companion new Paintbox stamp collection.  Isn't she so cute?  You can see more of these new stamps here. The bouquet next to the little girl is from Websters Pages and I added a ribbon bow to the bouquet as well.  I've had the ribbon forever and I am not sure who made it. The frame around my stamp was cut from my Cricut using Cindy Loo cartridge.

It's a good thing I liked my new card so much, since it's the only thing I've made all week.  Both kiddos are sick again.  Their fevers have broke but they are still having to do breathing treatments. They have an appt w/ their doctor in a couple of hours.  Nick been the sicker of the two this time around and is coughing his brains out.  I tried to get a little bit of honey down him to help with his cough last night.  He made sure I'd never try to poison him with that awful stuff again but throwing it up all over my himself and my bed after a couple of sips.   Okaaay, no more honey...

(Quick note: Nick has bronchitis and got Zithromax today, and Lara has an ear infection & respiratory infection and got some Augmentin today, so they should be on the mend soon!  Thanks for the sweet comments!  You gals are the sweetest!)

Thinking of You

Today I have an easel card for someone who is not feeling well.

I used my new DCWV Citrus Cardstock stack.  The stack has these foil papers that are so gorgeous, especially when the light hits them.  Love it!  It also has glittered cardstock as well.  For the front of the card, I colored my Crafter's Companion USA Anthony and Burt Hope you feel better soon stamp with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, and layered it on more cardstock from the Citrus Stack.  The banner was cut out using my Cricut, using the Birthday Bash cartridge.  I chalked the paper with matching colors and added couple of rhinestones from my stash to each banner flag.  The layers of bling along the bottom were leftover from an old scrapbook kit.

For the inside of the card, I layered several pieces of cardstock along the inside and added a green lace ribbon and punched border along the top of the card. I then decorated the punched out border with large rhinestones.  These keep the card in the open position.  Finally, I added a rub-on Sentiment.
